DAY 8: HE WAS CONFIDENT IN TRUTH

Day-8Luke 8:49-55
49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole…
52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway…”
This story has stuck with me because of the response of the people. Here is the Son of God, having healed and accomplished miracles, and their response is to laugh at his assertion that she is only sleeping. They say, you don’t think we know a dead person when we see one? They are so sure of their own knowledge and experience, that there can be no other outcome.
And yet, there was. The Savior did the unbelievable, the miraculous, right there in front of them. And He did it gently, without throwing it in their face, or pointing a mocking finger back at them.
Sometimes we think we know how a situation, or a person, is or will turn out. And in our unwitting pride, we miss incredible opportunities and gifts. Assuming we know best robs us of loving others, of wiser perspectives, of surprising friendships that we may not have recognized.
Just when you think all is lost, or hope falters, or a situation will never, ever change (or a person), remember He knows the truth. And with it, can work miracles. Turn it over to Him and find out what you need to do to exercise greater faith and a more open mindset to what is real and not perceived.
What is one situation you can see differently and more truthfully?
Best,
Connie
