Merry Christmas! It's Truly a Wonderful Life!

nativity 2I teach an amazing group of 17-year-olds every other Sunday at my church. During the week I text them a scripture to hopefully remind them of the spiritual challenge I offered on Sunday. Mostly, I’m sure it annoys them.
However, as I sent out the text for this week, I was struck by a connection I’d never made.
Initially, this scripture from Isaiah had come to mind:
“For unto us a child a born, unto us a son is give…and His name shall be called Wonderful!”
Isn’t that beautiful? He shall be called “Wonderful.” And He is! So I posed the question to my class “kids” to consider the ways He has made their lives wonderful. Then, the connection hit that my all-time favorite movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life.” In describing the main character’s life—and all that he goes through to realize it—this sometimes obscure name for the Savior was a perfect fit.
So for this beautiful, most holy of all nights of the year, I invite you to feel the wonder and wonderfulness of who He is, and what He did, and how He loves you, each and every day. To feel the wonderfulness of every good thing and person in your life. To know the wonderfulness of peace and joy and tenderness and laughter, all because He made it possible.
And to feel the wonderfulness of accepting who you are, and loving who you’re with, and looking forward with a brightness of hope to the coming year of more wonderfulness yet to be.
My love and joy to you and your families, for the blessings you give to them and others, and give to me that all year long make my life particularly Wonderful.
Wishing you a peaceful, joyful, and Wonderful Christmas,
Connie
