“Day 23: He Gently Corrects”
“And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42
In this scripture, when the Savior says “careful,” it can be translated to “worried.” Are you worried about all there is to do? Are you “cumbered about much serving” and maybe even a bit resentful that you have so much to do and why can’t someone else shoulder the burden or help you out?
Imagine the Savior speaking to you gently, looking into your eyes, and, with a loving smile, saying, “But one thing is needful.” Then, reminding us to choose the good part. When we take time for needful things, when we prioritize our lives so that we are in tune with His will, we can peacefully approach our tasks and do so better knowing how to do them, enjoy them, and grow through them.
How can I deal more gently with others today?”
