Being in the French countryside, I’m amazed how easy it is to stop during the day and simply be. Even in the busy bursts of helping with the photography workshop needs, the sprawling chateau and countryside are literally one step outside.
Last night before dinner, I realized we had about 15 minutes of chill time. I passed by the tall open entry doors of the chateau, saw the sun filter through the trees and knew what to do. I hopped on a bicyclette and took Chubba for a ride through the estate paths.
Chelsea, who had been hanging with the other kids, saw us on the bike and hollered that they wanted to come too. We rode around in the beautiful evening light, laughing, chasing the roaming chickens, and pointing out crows nests.
Back home, I guarantee I would have used that 15 minutes to either supervise homework or tidy something.
So here is to just being. And to remembering this pearl for when I return and somehow recreate my instant French countryside feel.
Avec amour,
Connie
