24 DAYS WITH THE SAVIOR – DAY 1: JOY!

Day-1124 DAYS WITH THE SAVIOR
During the month of December, I hope you’ll join me daily for my “24 Days with the Savior.” Each day I’ll post a brief scripture and thought on a trait of Jesus Christ (based on an experience with my women’s church group who did this for 14 days).
As we approach Christmas, I hope you’ll enjoy this small spiritual boost to daily remember Christ, and indeed, the reason for the season.
Best,
Connie
DAY 1: JOY!
Luke 2:10-14
“10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
The Savior was joy, and brought joy, to all people who would have it. He made the blind see, the sick to be healed, the lame to walk. He found joy in the repentant sinner, in raising the dead, in being with people, no matter their spiritual or physical condition, and making them better than He found them. To everyone who was willing to receive it, He brought joy.
I think back to past years of gifts I couldn’t wait to receive—the Betty Crocker oven, the red outfit with the cool picture on the shirt, the nail polish kit. Those were fun! But as I get older, my joys are much simpler, and more of a daily experience—feeling the touch of my baby’s soft pudgy fingers stroking my face; hearing the laughter of my children playing an imagination game together; watching my husband put his arm around a frustrated son.
In our busy lives, there is SO much joy surrounding us, if we’ll only look and feel it.
How can you see and feel more simple joy today?
Best,
Connie
