Before leaving for the trip I told my mother, “I’m really going to let go of efficiency on this trip. I’ve done all I can do to plan, now it’s time to just be European and go with it.”
Good, great, super.
And then, this morning we only have a certain amount of time to visit the Louvre, my most favorite place to go on this trip. So we plan to be up at 7:30, breakfast, then walk to the Louvre, and get in line and be able to see at least 6 hours worth–not much, but still, enough.
However, someone gets the room number mixed up, so our wake up call/breakfast is given a room upstairs and we sleep in until 9:30.
Then Bryson wakes not feeling well and just wants to be held. And my daughter has jet lag and just wants to sleep. AND I AM AWAKE, ADRENALIZED, AND READY FOR THE LOUVRE.
But then I remember, I’m to just GO WITH IT.
Sigh.
So I do. And I cuddle my son, and let Chelsea sleep. When Bryson falls asleep, I take a shower and enjoy the luxury of a soft white terry cloth robe while I write these snippets. And I say, LIKE A SOOTHING MANTRA, if we only see one painting, that’s okay.
Right?????
Right.
Breathe. Smile. Just go with it…
Best,
Connie
Update since this post: P.S. After my “go with it” morning we get to the Louvre, see the truly endless line that wraps around the buildings and are about to leave, because no Time, sigh, and go somewhere else, when a guard approaches and says, you have a baby, do you want priority entrance? So we just WALK IN!!! The Blessings of “going with it”
NOTE: Make sure you check out Connie’s Facebook Page for more pictures from Paris and ‘Like’ the page…. we will be updating all week. Enjoy!!
I can completely relate. Before a vacation, I plan like the dickens down to the very last detail. Once we get on vacation, though, serendipity i the name of the game!
P.S. The chateau looks divine! Excited to follow along on your adventure.
