15-minute Workout Woven Into Daily Life!
In preparing to get back into a regular workout (post-Christmas and family flu), I’ve begun to “warm up” my body into the idea of exercising.
If you’re doing the same, consider not jumping into “running for 30 to 45 minutes, four days a week” kind of routine. Instead, start small. But do it while you do your life.
For example, in the morning I can do lunge steps (taking giant low lunge steps on alternating legs) walking around the house to get things ready for the day. I’ll do sit-ups while playing Thomas the Tank Engine on the floor with my toddler. And I’ll do squats while making breakfast or doing my girl’s hair (carefully…)
To get a bit of cardio in, I’ll run in place for 1-2 minutes between the lunges/squat/sit ups, or do wall push ups (lean into the wall and push back like a push up) or do a few minutes of stairs right on my stairway.
All in all, we’re talking 15 minutes—very simple, doable, and gets my body ready for more in the coming weeks.
Like I said, nothing shazammy. But, wow, can I feel the difference! The first day I tried it for 20 minutes thinking, what’s 20 minutes? Pain the next day—that’s what 20 minutes was. My quads were so sore!
So this week, think 15 minutes; think simple; think daily life. Make it part of regular living and you’ll be surprised at the improved tone in your body!
Best,
Connie
