Are you enjoying your Holy Habits goal? I’m loving a more peaceful focus. Ken Burgess shares this great thing about goals: “You will not be committed to your goals one hundred percent if you are not clear on the benefits you will gain by reaching them.
When you are not sure of the benefits it’s very difficult to maintain the necessary persistence, dedication and enthusiasm.
So you always have to ask yourself why you want to achieve a particular goal. If you are clear on the benefits, you are willing to pay the price.”
Some benefits of putting more holy habits in your life are increased peace, confidence, and calm. You also will have more capacity to listen and understand others, not judge, and have a desire to help more than criticize. You’ll find yourself a little more patient with your loved ones, as well as yourself, and feel extra help from above during your day.
I’ve felt an increase of patience, and have started and ended my day with more calm. And in a particularly confusing matter, I’ve felt more motivation to resolve it. For my family, I’ve had more energy and follow- through to do our family scripture study, even when last night it involved me saying things like, “Sophie, if you can’t sit still, you’re going to bed,” and splitting up my teenage boys who could NOT stop snickering about something. Ah, spiritual bonding…
But there’s been an overall increase in my patience and less knee-jerk reaction that’s been evident to me, for which I’m so grateful. What’s been your experience so far? Feel free to share it with me at me@conniesokol.com.
And remember to enjoy getting back to these spiritual basics.
Best,
Connie
