EZ Cookie Flowers/Freezer Cookies!

cookiesfinalA quick twist on chocolate chip cookies–make a Cookie Flower! These are easy, easy to make and are great gifts, especially when you put them in a real clay pot with some green raffia:)

Cookie Flowers

(use your fave choco chip cookie recipe, or ours)
Assemble time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 13 minutes
*The amount below is FOUR TIMES the regular amounts for freezer cookies
Ingredients:
4 cups of turbinado sugar (6 cups of granulated)
3 cups butter
4 eggs
4 tsp vanilla
8-9 cups of flour (1/2 white, 1/2 wheat)
4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
4-6 cups of chocolate chips (to taste)

Blend all wet ingredients in a Bosch or similar type mixer. Add half the floor–and the rest of the dry ingredients–mix–then add remaining flour until it’s a consistency you like.

Press the dough into a form pan–we use the flower form (takes 4 minutes to press all 6 flowers, so fast!) Keep the amount flat, not overflowing, as the cookie will rise in baking. Optional: put in a craft lollipop stick now so later it holds like a flower.
Bake 13-15 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool and decorate, eat as is, or put in a flower pot for a gift.
Freezer Cookies:
I like making two batches of cookies immediately (for after school snacks). Then the remainder dough I shape into “logs” to put in ziploc bags in the freezer (easier without the foil).

On a cozy day, I take out a “log”, let it slightly thaw, slice and place on the cookie sheet. I cook for 13 mins at 375 degrees and voila, warm and delicious in minutes!
Enjoy,
Connie
