Pearls from Paris: Keep a Camera with You. NO MATTER WHAT!

It's called a git, pronounced jeet, like a cottage duplexWe decided to take a brief walk in the countryside at our new pension, called a git (pronounced “jeet”, see pics).
Chelsea, Chubs and I enjoyed a late afternoon walk through the gorgeous, freshly rained-on countryside when for a moment, a perfect ray of sunlight peeked through the misty clouds. The lighting suddenly illuminated the yellow and greed fields in a stunning brightness that would make my photographer friend cry.
And where was my camera?
Making dinner at the jeetBack at the git.
But then came the kicker, the total punch-in-the-gut: a double rainbow. I KID YOU NOT. Absolutely gorgeous, and we were standing right in front of this PERFECT wide arc before us, surrounded by open fields and a tall, bushy Pride and Prejudice tree to the left (the kind seemingly standing in the middle of nowhere).
And no camera.
Chelsea and I lamented, chagrined, and sighed. Instead, we took a mental picture and promised to remember this secret moment that only the three of us had shared on a deserted French country road.
And I have now learned my very painful lesson. While traveling in a beautiful foreign country, take a camera. Every time. No exceptions.
Best,
Connie
