DAY 22: HE IS PEACE

Day-22-202x300John 14:27
“27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
At this time, you might not be feeling a great deal of peace. Maybe you’ve got too many things left to do, and not enough time to do them. Or you’re feeling stressed that events might not come together the way you wanted. Or that gifts didn’t get mailed to arrive by December 25th, or that visiting family members could create drama. Or that Santa might fall asleep, again, and not finish the wrapping…
But does it really matter?
Christmas comes once a year, and as the days wind down, so should we. Trim the list and forego some plans. Pull back so you can delight in the feel and look and smells of this precious celebration. Choose a favorite Christmas story, gather your children around the tree, and in a quiet voice, share it. Or sing “Silent Night,” listening for the wonderful off-key or high-pitched children’s voices. Or drink a hot cup of cocoa, without thinking of calories, curled up in a cozy chair while listening to a familiar CD of Christmas carols.
This is the time to be at peace with yourself, so you can be at peace with the day. As mom is, so shall the family go. Today, refuse to be impatient or harried about parking spaces or rude customers. Put a smile on your face, say “Merry Christmas” to whomever you meet, and fill your heart and soul with a peaceful knowing that the Savior loves you, and leaves His peace for you to take anytime.
How can you be more peaceful in your words and actions today?
Merry Christmas,
Connie
