Tips to See Yourself in a New, and Truer, Way

Too often we women sacrifice our daily happiness for the self-focus of How Do I Look Today? Or, What Pants Fit Today? Or, Why is So-and-So Skinnier Than I Am?

Just for today, forget about focusing on how much you weigh, how fat you think you look, or how much you ate or didn’t eat.

God has created, just for you, this beautiful body that functions like no other. You are its steward. The sooner you nurture and nourish your physical self, the sooner you will see results. He doesn’t want a one-size-fits-all body for His family or He would have created that. It’s we who think it’s unattractive.

Unintentionally, we can create body worship, which creates enmity between women. Think about the time, energy, and frequency with which you compare your body to someone else’s. And how that affects your possible friendships with other women. Too often we compare, then distance ourselves if we’re not the same size, or bigger/smaller, all based on one criteria, a superficial one at best.

We can get back to what is real and what matters most. And we can let go of the quest for size 2. Just like that. Let. It. Go.

Knowledge is power and knowing your body type helps powerfully release unrealistic expectations.

Expressing gratitude and showing respect for your body are two sure-fire ways to see yourself in a new, and truer, way.

For today, I encourage you to make a list of things you love about your body:

–What it can do

–How it helps you

–What it’s endured

–What makes you happy about it

Then, make a list of up to five things you can do to nurture and nourish your body this week. Perhaps get 15 more minutes of rest each night. Or be still at least once during the day. Eat healthy for two meals. Go for a walk, not for a raised heart rate but simply to enjoy the beauty around you.

Choose some things to give back to your body and you will find it will give back to you.

Best,
