THANK YOU-Education Week!

IMG_6360 A huge THANK YOU to all who attended BYU-Education Week in Provo this past week. With about 25,000 women attending hundreds of classes, it’s a privilege to speak there.
I have to share that personally, I was unsure how it would go for me this year. Beforehand life was a bit crazy, it was also the first week of school, and I had been feeling doubts about my ability to share what would be useful and resonating with women. It’s been 15 years of speaking at this conference and I’m thinking, they’ve heard enough from me (my kids would agree).
But what amazed me once again is how we are all positive catalysts for each other. No matter what two mites we bring to a class, a conversation, or a connection, it sparks another connection, and then another, and before you know it, you have the truth or peace or mojo you are looking for.
During the week, one lady shared that she had a deep quIMG_6332 estion in her mind. Then one of the quotes I shared led her to read that entire article/talk. Beautifully, in the text of it was her answer! I hadn’t given that to her, but had simply been a hand on the marathon road holding out the water cup like so many of us do. And she took it, and drank it, and drank some more, and was filled.
Then an adult daughter emailed me after the week and shared how my conversation with her mother had been helpful in spring-boarding her desire to embrace her current situation, recognize the need for transition, and find her motivation to do it. Ironically, the entire conversation was due to this daughter’s assertively asking me for a few minutes after class and all of us talking, simply from love and concern for her mother. That started a ball rolling that is now on its way.
Lastly, another woman emailed me that some thoughts shared in class about parenting had helped her. She had come from out of state and now back home with her four children. Various class thoughts had provided a shift in attitude and ideas that she said, “will stay with me forever and have really changed my parenting for the better.” This good woman made the time and the Herculean effort to come from a far away state, choreograph that time away,  listen with intent to learn, and then begin applying it right away.

That’s the beautiful, life-changing connections we create with each other. How grateful I am to have been a small but for me meaningful part of that Education Week conference. Each of these interactions have blessed my life, and have given me renewed confidence (that each of them likely didn’t realize I was needing). Most especially in the fact that even though I only have a little to share, that’s okay because an infinite more is created by the act of sharing.
Love you ladies!!
Hugs,
Connie
